March Spotlight
In March, Le Club focuses on Women and Fitness – with added resources, links and articles. It's an opportunity to ask questions, read up on the latest research, talk to other women and maybe even offer some advice of your own.
Your body is the vehicle you live your whole life in, and keeping it fit is one of the best ways to ensure a long, healthy and fulfilling journey.
Some of the benefits of fitness are obvious: being fit can improve strength, endurance and flexibility. It can help control weight and help prevent serious conditions such as heart disease, stroke and high blood pressure. It can help people lead more independent lives later in life.
Other effects aren’t as obvious, but have significant and valuable results: fitness improves posture and balance, helps reduce stress levels, can improve self-esteem and mental health, and helps give you the energy you need to pursue goals in other areas of your life.
For some, getting fit means building activities such as walking or stretching into their daily routine. For others it means joining a gym, a dance class, a hockey league or a racquet-sports club. Others prefer gardening or swimming or yoga. But according to the Public Health Agency of Canada, almost two-thirds of Canadians aren’t physically active enough to reap the health benefits of physical fitness. That’s why Le Club is talking about Women and Fitness.
