Nonmelanoma Health Centre
Our Program

Dermatology Outpatient Department

Dermatologists in the Dermatology Outpatient Department see patients for non-melanoma skin cancers in nearly every clinic. Most skin cancers can be adequately treated by dermatologists on the first visit. Occasionally, more complicated surgery is necessary, and dermatologists with a special interest in surgery do these excisions.

The Skin Surgery Centre is a clinic for patients who have lesions that are very difficult to treat and who are referred to be considered for Mohs surgery. Appointments can be made by referral once a diagnosis of skin cancer has been confirmed. If Mohs Surgery is planned, detailed information on the nature of this procedure is provided to patients.

Patient education and arrangements for follow-up visits and phone calls are made by the clinic nurse after Mohs surgery.

Patients referred to the skin clinic may have minor surgery done on the day of referral if the physicians feel they are able to predict the complexity of the case and do not require a consultation visit beforehand.

Following treatment, patients are referred for follow-up to their referring physician.
